Dog training Guide Reviewed: Clicker training: 4 Secrets to Becoming a Supertrainer
Clicker training is a very effective training method that is not only used to train dogs, but many other animals too. Clicker training is a purely rewards based rather than correction based training.
The clicker is used to clearly indicate when (in this case) your dog has behaved the right way and is followed soon afterwards by a reward. When used correctly it’s very effective and encourages your dog to want to learn.
Like most skills, clicker training must be learned properly and applied correctly to be really effective.

Clicker Training: 4 Secrets to Becoming a Supertrainer has been written by Morten Egtvedt & Cecilie Koeste who are both experts in clicker training for dogs. They began training dogs in the traditional way but saw the possibilities for clicker training.
They discovered for themselves how effective this training can be when applied correctly and now use this method exclusively to train dogs and dog trainers. They have used clicker training methods to train champion competition dogs, search and rescues dogs and in training dogs for military service.
Clicker Training was originally popularised by Karen Pryor a world leader in animal training and Morten Egtvedt & Cecilie Koeste are members of Karen’s Clicker Expo Faculty.
4 Secrets for Becoming Supertrainer clearly explains the theory behind clicker training, as well as showing you how to properly apply the training to get the behaviour you want from your dog.
Don’t worry that this is another dry theory book, Morten and Cecille have written the book so that even the theory part is fun. I had a good giggle at the “For the Dog” chapter, where your dog will learn how easy it is to train his owner, and that it’s” just a matter of making his owner click, because that’s how you get something you want.”
On the other hand, you’ll learn how to use positive reinforcement and even more importantly how to find the positive reinforcers your dog loves, so that you don’t need to only use food as a reward.
The book explains how to condition your dog to the sound of the clicker, whether you are just beginning dog training or even if you have been using another training method.
Clicker training can be applied using 7 different training techniques which are clearly explained, as well as how to choose which one is the right technique to use when training your dog for a specific behavior. These seven basics are then expanded into full training plans for 30 behaviors.
This course will also teach you how to avoid some common training mistakes that even experienced dog trainers can overlook, which means training your dog will be faster and more effective in no time.
As well as the Secrets to Becoming a Supertrainer ebook you also get 5 bonus online videos.
Video 1: Teaching the retrieve.
Video 2: Get the Mail from the mailbox.
Video 3: Teaching Heel Position with a puppy.
Video 4: Getting a soda from the fridge.
Video 5: Teaching your dog to wrap itself in a blanket.
It’s really great to be able to watch such experienced trainers for yourself, you’ll be able to copy the techniques exactly. Your friends and family will watch in awe as your dog competently preforms these actions.
Clicker training is a very effective method of training your dog, and 4 Secrets to Becoming a Supertraining can help anyone learn to train this way. From someone who has never trained a dog to a trainer who would like to learn and understand this technique for themselves.
