Dove Cresswells Puppy and Dog Training Online is different to most other online courses. This course is a series of seven online video lessons that cover all the essentials for training your dog in a visual format.
While a video presentation doesn’t have all the details of a written course it does have some advantages. One advantage is that the instructions are very easy to follow because you can see exactly what to do and expect while still concise and to the point.
With this video presentation you can also see the correct posture and hear the right tones of voice for training your dog.The correct posture and tone is more important in training your dog than most people realize, as dogs interpret your body language and tone of voice better that they understand language.
It also makes getting the whole family involved in training your dog very easy, as the course is presented in short logical lessons so the whole family can watch together.

A unified approach to training your dog, where the whole family consistently uses the same commands and expects the same results is ideal. It’s not confusing for your dog and will make the whole training process faster and more effective
The first lesson is all about housebreaking or potty training your dog. The training is quite specific with separate training instructions for toy dogs or other breeds. The reason for recommending the different training approaches is also well explained.
The second lesson is on crate training and includes a good explanation of the advantages of this training method and some of the problems this method can solve. As well as how to set up the crate and the do’s and don’t of crate training.
The third lesson moves on to obedience training, including the sit, down and stay commands. Dove gives advice for both puppies and older dogs and she illustrates a couple of ways to teach each of the commands.
While Dove usually recommends one approach as preferable, she understands that dogs can be individual as people and some dogs will respond better to an alternate approach. Dove also show how to keep the training fun for everyone.
The fourth lesson titled “walking politely on the leash” is about loose leash walking. There is nothing less enjoyable that the feeling that your dog is taking you for a walk. Dove will show you how to take your dog for a walk so that is it enjoyable for both you and your dog.
The next lesson, The Recall is about teaching your dog to come to you when you call, even when not on the leash. This is one lesson you and your dog really need to master if you want to ensure your dogs safety.
Then the next lesson is on how to deal with problem behaviours like stopping your dog from jumping on people, stopping biting, stealing food or other things. As well as dealing with problem barking, whining and teaching your dog how to greet people and other dogs.
The last lesson in the series is a fun lesson on teaching your dog special tricks like, shake a paw, wave, rollover and speak.
